OUR NATUROPATHIC APPROACH

There are certain basic tenets behind the way we practice naturopathy including the follow:

  • First do no harm" - Naturopaths avoid treatments or practices that have harmful side-effects
  • The body is an excellent self-healing organism and therapy should respect this and work with the body, not seek to over-ride it
  • Therapy should provide all that the body needs for optimum function
  • Treatment should seek to reduce or eliminate harmful substances and stop harmful practices. It should generate lifestyles that maintain good health and prevent future health problems
  • The client should be intimately involved in their own treatment and be given an explanation for all that is suggested to them.
  • The health of the physical body is intimately linked with mental and emotional states and improving these is an integral part of creating and maintaining good health.
  • Health is a state of total physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being. It is not simply the absence of obvious symptoms or a named disease.

Unlike medical doctors we work in a way that demands more input by you and almost certainly more lifestyle changes, but that leaves you in control of your own health.  During the normal consultation, usually lasting an hour, you will be given the time to discuss your case in detail, you will get a full explanation of what seems to be causing your problem. You will then be told how you can participate in your cure and treatments will be suggested that do not include the use of substances, such as toxic drugs, that have harmful side-effects.
